AGE

The upper age limit is 35 years as on the normal closing date for General/ EWS candidates. For candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the age limit is relaxable up to 40 years for vacancies reserved for these categories. Similarly, candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBC) are eligible for age relaxation up to 38 years against reserved vacancies.

In addition, regularly appointed Central Government or Union Territory Government servants may avail age relaxation of up to 5 years, in accordance with the rules and instructions issued by the Government of India from time to time. Candidates belonging to other eligible categories can also claim applicable age concessions as mentioned in the official “Instructions and Additional Information to Candidates for Recruitment by Selection.

Essential Qualification

Candidates applying for the post must possess a qualification recognized for enrolment as a member of either the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI).

However, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) may relax the prescribed qualifications in exceptional cases for candidates who are otherwise highly qualified, with reasons recorded in writing.

The recruitment for the post of Assistant Director (Cost) will be conducted through direct recruitment based on the selection process prescribed by the Commission.

The crucial date for determining the age limit will be the closing date for submission of applications, as notified by UPSC in the official recruitment advertisement.

Duties of Assistant Director (Cost)

Cost analysis and cost examination, evaluation of capital-intensive projects, cost-benefit analysis of various projects, determination of fair pricing, and conducting studies related to cost reduction and operational efficiency.

How to Apply for Assistant Director (Cost)

Candidates must apply online only through the official UPSC website: UPSC Online Application Portal. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted.

Applicants are required to upload supporting documents and certificates for every claim made in the application form. Each document should be uploaded separately in PDF format. The maximum file size allowed is 1 MB for most upload sections and 2 MB for the “Upload Other Document” section. Documents should be clearly legible when printed and scanned at 200 dpi in grayscale.

The following documents are generally required:

  • Proof of date of birth such as birth certificate or matriculation certificate.
  • Educational qualification certificates along with mark sheets or provisional certificates.
  • Certificates for equivalent qualifications, if applicable.
  • Experience certificates from previous employers clearly mentioning the period of employment, nature of duties performed, and pay details.
  • SC/ST/OBC caste certificate issued by the competent authority.
  • OBC declaration and non-creamy layer certificate for candidates seeking reservation benefits.
  • Disability certificate issued by a recognized Medical Board for PwBD candidates.
  • Any additional supporting documents relevant to the application.

If any document is in a language other than Hindi or English, candidates must upload an attested translation certified by a Gazetted Officer or Notary.

Candidates are advised to complete the application process before the closing date mentioned in the official notification, as eligibility conditions are determined based on the last date for submission of online applications.
